Chile and Perú, the most attractive Latin American countries to invest
Chile, Peru and Colombia are the three most attractive countries for foreign investment in Latin America for this year that has just begun. It is the result of a survey carried out by Miami-based consulting agency Attitude Consulting, among the commercial lawyers of the main local law firms in the region.

Latin America: Survey for Foreign Investors 2017
The current study “Latin America: Foreign Investor Survey 2017” is, as its name suggests, the result of a survey carried out by Attitude Consulting in the last months of 2016 between lawyers from some of the main business law firms operating in the region
The responses are encouraging and demonstrate the dynamism of the Re-gion and the real efforts being made to create an adequate framework that will effectively attract foreign investors beyond some claims not accompanied by politics and serious structures of which the Region has been accused of in the past.

Great success for the European ITech Law Conference, Madrid 2016
ATTITUDE CONSULTING, MEDIA PARTNER
The worldwide technology lawyers association, ITechLaw (International Technology Law Association), which gathers more than 1,000 technology and digital law lawyers from around the world, held its 2016 European Conference at the Madrid Westin Palace Hotel from November 9 until November 11.
The Madrid conference, which was a mix of education, networking, and fun, attracted more than 30 expert speakers who shared their knowledge with over 330 attendees from 39 countries.

It has been just over a year since my colleagues and I returned from Cuba with the Florida Bar’s international law section. At that time in May 2015, we were hailed as the largest delegation of North American lawyers to visit the island nation since the 1959 revolution. We were pioneers. Our mission: to learn about the Cuban legal system in an effort to advise our clients about business opportunities in Cuba.

Companies Ask their Law Firms for Bills Without Surprise
52% of companies’ internal legal departments are considering changing law firm, looking for non-traditional advisers, according to the international report of Future trends of legal services, performed by RSG Consulting and coordinated by Deloitte Abogados.
What do customers expect from contracted firms? In addition to controlling the technical aspects from a legal point of view, a law firm must have commercial experience and know the sector of the company to which they advise. They also demand knowledge on cybersecurity issues and that they are able to share data and knowledge.

Litigators Recall Representing Prince, a Client Like No Other
Prince developed a somewhat complicated relationship with the Internet, and fought to protect his brand and music against unauthorized use. And for that he needed lawyers, lots of them.
“Prince was a target for commercial suits. He was also frustrated by the proliferation of the Internet.”
Elkin said he handled some of the first suits filed in the mid-1990s against websites on behalf of Prince, a fierce copyright defender whose music is hard to find on streaming services or Google Inc.’s YouTube.
